XnView Shell - Preview

Post by SoCu »

Hi, a request, could be included in the next update, that, in the Windows file explorer, when hovering the mouse over an image file, a small floating window will show the image of that file, like the one shown in the preview pane of the Windows file explorer.

I don't know if this would have to be done here in XnView Shell Extension, or it would have to be included in XnView MP.

Would this be possible?

Thank you.

but you already have this functionality build in win file explorer
just right click, on file, hold and start dragging it - preview will appear
also nothing will happen if you release file in the same folder

It is not the same, a folder with many files, having to go selecting file by file and moving them to show the image, is impractical.
And it doesn't always show the image, and if it does, it is a small image, and not very sharp.

The Windows file explorer can be configured to show the image in the preview pane, but having it configured like this, makes that large files, or even PDF files, take time to be displayed in the preview, that slows down other actions, such as error when using the key combination Ctrl + C to copy a file, I also use to copy files TeraCopy, and also does not let you copy the file until it is not displayed in the preview.

That's why I think that, if you can have this option, it would be very interesting, as well as practical.
