After some time (haven't found a way to reproduce) but the options for Preferences and Quit becomes greyed out for XnViewMP 1.4.0.
The only way to quit the program is to command + q.

Re: macOS Preferences/Quit greyed out
So far, the easiest way is to let the Mac hibernate, come back and it usually happens. Given a long enough time it usually becomes 100% that the prefs and quit will become greyed out.
Re: macOS Preferences/Quit greyed out
I would like to take this up again, I also noticed this problem under version 1.6.2. The menu items can be selected after switching to viewer mode, but are sometimes grayed out again when switching to browser mode or closing the settings dialog. I have not been able to find out what grays out the menu item, but if it is grayed out, the settings can be called up via a key combination or via an icon in the toolbar.

Re: macOS Preferences/Quit greyed out
Yes, this occurs after switching to view mode and back to browser mode and/or opening the settings and closing the dialog via OK or the x at the top left.
But it usually occurs in browser mode.
I use macOS Sonoma (14.1.1 (23B81)) on an M1 Air MacBook, but the problem also occurred on older macOS and XnViewMP versions
