descript.ion not in comment column if embedded comment exists

Post by corr »

I use the comment column a lot in browser mode and in detail view. Unfortunately it has the shortcoming that it is used for two contents. Namely embedded comment inside the image file and the comment from the descript.ion file.

The problem now is that if you fill both comment fields at the end only the comment from the image file is shown. The comment from the descript.ion is ignored.

Since I use both fields (as they have different advantages), I would like to see either two dedicated columns for the two contents, or that the comment field can show both contents with a separator if needed.

Is there a temporary solution to this problem that I haven't seen yet?

It is causing me more and more problems. Because I keep getting images with inline comments that I would like to keep and add my own comments. For this descript.ion is a great help.

Yes, either two dedicated columns for the two fields, or that the comment field can show both contents with a separator if needed. Whatever makes more sense for you.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.5.0 beta. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Works for me. But I would expect comment and annotation to be together in the right click menu to add columns. And annotation should be in the sort by list.

Thank you very much.

This issue seems to have popped up again in 1.60 and later.

I also vote in favor of having two separate columns for annotations and the descript.ion file entry
