Hi, I have been using XnviewMp for a long time now.I love it.
However, there was a bug introduced in the last few updates and this made me "not to" update to newer versions.
This is working fine with 1.5.5 version and backwards.
Let's say we have a folder with 10 pictures and I create new pictures with stable diffusion in the same folder or I just copy new pictures into the same folder. I set the sorting to "created date" in the browser mode,so the newly created files are at the end of the list. Before copying or creating new files in the folder my selection is the last image in the folder. In version 1.5.5 and backwards ,when new images are created and when I am on the viewer mode or full screen mode, when I use my mouse scroll, pagedown key,or right arrow key to view the next picture it was detecting newly created files and it was showing them like usual.
But in newer versions something has broken this feature. When I am at the end of the file list ,sorted by created date,if new files are created or copied it is getting stuck with the last picture before the copy or creation when I use my mouse wheel, right arrow or pagedown key.So it is not passing to the next file automatically by detecting the new files.Only way to make it work is to switching from full screen or viewing mode into browser mode and click one of the new files created and only then it is able to understand there are new files in the folder.
It has becoming really annoying to always switch to browser mode, click on of the files and switch back to viewer mode. Please can you identify this problem and fix it? Otherwise I will be stuck with 1.5.5 version forever.
Finally thanks for this amazing software.

Re: XnView doesn't read new files created
I also have a question, request if you will or suggestion. This may not be the best place for a request, but I guess it shall be fine.xnview wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2024 10:43 amThanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.
Is it possible for you to add support for python scripts directly in the "current working directory" without compiling the python scripts into an executable?
What I mean with that when I right click on the toolbar -> customize toolbar -> add "-- Command -- " it supports bat, exe, xbs files. However if we force it to select "(*)" we can add python scripts to the toolbar as well. However,I think it is not able to associate the python script "*.py" file with python.exe or whatever the python file is associated with systemwide. So let's say we have python installed and it is in the windows path and it is associated with *.py files or *.pyw files associated with pyw.exe (windowless mode) and XnviewMp supports these files to be launched in the selected folder directly.
This shall turn the software into a powerhouse if not already.
I hope,it can be doable or if there is already a way to do it that I am missing,I just don't know. There is a workaround to call the python scripts with bat files or compiling them but not directly supported as I see it.
In short, please add *.py and *.pyw support for customizing the "-- Command --" if it is possible.
Also if it is possible,I am not sure how the script can be made to be run for "selected files only" if there is a selection,or if no selection run for all files in the folder. I mean not sure about if the script shall handle it by the code in it ,or XnviewMp shall give the files as an argument to the script so "selection only" mode can be used that way...
