Can't delete folder after viewing without quitting entirely
Anytime I view photos with XnView MP, it seems to "lock" the containing folder (on Windows), preventing the folder from being deleted. It remains locked even after I navigate out of it in XnView's browser - I have to completely quit XnView in order to be able to delete it.
Easy to repro:
1) Use Windows Explorer to navigate to a folder with some photos
2) Double-click a photo to view in XnView MP
3) Switch XnView to "browse" mode
4) Go up one folder (".." at the top of the listing), so you're no longer looking inside that folder, nor at any photos within it
5) Try to delete the folder. Nothing happens. (If you go back inside the folder, you'll see that it actually deleted all of its contents, leaving it empty - it just fails to delete the folder itself)
6) You can also try to delete the folder from Windows Explorer. You can't - it's in use.
7) No matter where you browse in XnView - even if you navigate somewhere completely different & start viewing other photos, the folder remains "in use" and cannot be deleted. You have to completely quit XnView to be able to delete the folder.
This should not be the case.

Re: Can't delete folder after viewing without quitting entirely
i can't reproduce, could you send me your .ini?
Pierre.
Re: Can't delete folder after viewing without quitting entirely
I've tried with your .ini, and no problem. Windows 10? If you try to close the image tab (not closed when you go to browser), same problem?
Pierre.

Yeah, Windows 10.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "image tab" (there's no tab titled "Image")
Here's a video showing the behavior: https://jiij.cc/snaps/2024-07-12_15.39.32.mp4
Yeah, Windows 10.

i've tried again, and no problem. How do you go in browser view, double click?
If you close the image tab, same problem (View>Tab>Show)?

Re: Can't delete folder after viewing without quitting entirely
Well, clearly it's more widespread than just me - so it's indeed a real issue: viewtopic.php?f=62&t=44011&start=15
(In any event, less severe IMO than the Linux issue that I've been reporting for over 4 years (viewtopic.php?f=62&t=40701, viewtopic.php?f=62&t=42806). Since this can at least be worked around by closing & re-launching xnview. The Linux issue still has no workaround except to not use xnview. So wanted to report this, but lower impact/priority than the other issue...

Re: Can't delete folder after viewing without quitting entirely
There is indeed this problem.
When video preview is turned on, and then you click on a folder, it automatically plays the videos in it while opening the folder.
At this point, there is no way to delete them, either the folder, or the videos.
To be precise, I can't find any way to delete the folder, as there is no button to stop the preview either.

This thread does not relate to videos/video previews.aucora wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2024 11:19 pm There is indeed this problem.

This bug still persists in 1.8.3.

How to reproduce with clean .ini?
Pierre.
