EXIF data display problem

Post by toyotadesigner »

XnView MP 1.8.5 macOS Catalina Version 10.15.7 (19H2026)

The old problem persists.
When I start XnView MP, select a thumbnail, click EXIFTool, all variables are displayed:

But when I select another thumbnail, the EXIFTool veriables are chopped off:

I've already re-installed XnView several times, but the strange behavior remains. I've even deleted the hidden files in the User/.config/xnviewmp except for the Thumb.db and the XnView.db files without success.

I have not the slightes idea what causes the issue.

Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, same problem as before. Just thought it would be solved with a new release.

The issue is for all file formats: .NEF, .ARW, .TIFF, .TIF, .JPG.

Seems to be a problem.

There must have been something you have changed or modified. Looks like a switch that is not reset after the first use of the EXIFTool.

It's so strange, that after a restart the first use of the tool displays everything correctly and without a glitch, but not the next files.

IMPORTANT UPDATE INFORMATION

Pierre,

I guess I have found the problem. If you add the option -m while accessing EXIFTOOLS, everything should work flawlessly.

Just by chance I discovered, that I could not update files with the command line of EXIFTOOL, because it could not read hidden data.

See this discussion at exiftool.org: https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php?topic=16210.0

I've tried the -m option/switch, and voilà, the command line exiftool worked like a charm.

However, I don't know how to integrated the -m option/switch into XNviewMP, but maybe you can test it or send me a file to test it on macOS Catalina.

Hi Pierre,

thank you so very much, you are a genius! Yes, it works like a charm with Nikon NEF, Sony ARW, TIFF, JPEG, PNG…

It is just wonderful. Let's celebrate it: The EXIF is back in XnView MP Image
