1.8.8: Parent category is not assigned from Catalog filter

OS: Windows 10 64bit

Can't assign both parent and child category from Catalog Filter.
Can't filter photos from Categories panel.
So I need to use two almost identical panels to catalog my photos for some reason.

To reproduce:
1. Check Settings -> Metadata -> Automatically assign parent category
2. Create new ParentCategory and child SubCategory
3. Select image
4. Open context menu, click Metadata -> Set Category -> ParentCategory -> SubCategory
5. Open Categories panel, see that both ParentCategory and SubCategory are checked for the image
6. Uncheck both categories
7. Click on SubCategory in Categories panel
8. See that both ParentCategory and SubCategory are checked for the image
9. Uncheck both categories
10. Open Catalog Filter panel
11. Drag-n-drop the image to SubCategory

Actual behaviour (bug):
12. Image is assigned to child SubCategory alone

Expected behaviour:
12. Image is assigned to both ParentCategory and SubCategory, as in other interfaces

To automatically assign the parents categories there is an option in Settings/Metada/Categories and keywords

So the bug is that this option doesn't work in one case

I had never done Drag and Drop to assign a category.
Indeed, in this way only the child's category is assigned.
