b1: Writing IPTC data to non-image file

Post by helmut »

XnView will GPF when editing IPTC data of a JPG and a non-JPG file:

1. In Browser select a JPG image and a PNG image file
2. Use "Tools > Metadata > Edit IPTC data" to open IPTC dialog
3. Enter some values
4. Confirm dialog with "Write all selected" button

-> XnView will GPF

The problem is not the GPF but the fact that the user can edit IPTC data for file formats which do not have (and cannot have) IPTC data.

Fixed in b2.

Works as expected, IPTC data written only to files supporting IPTC (tested with JPG and PNG files).

Works better, but not 100%.

1. In Browser select a JPG and a PNG image
2. Use "Tools > Metadata > Edit IPTC data" to open IPTC dialog
3. Use the "<" or ">" to navigate to the PNG file
4. Use "Write" to write to the PNG
-> GPF
