b1: "Edit IPTC data" dialog: Scrolling tabs

Post by helmut »

In "Edit IPTC data" dialog (Edit > Metadata > Edit IPTC data) the tabs on top have scroll bars. The scrollbars do not look nice and makes controling the dialog more cumbersome.

Note:
When fixing this also other languages (e.g., German) with longer labels should be taken into account.

The "Previous" and "Next" buttons need too much space and should be changed (see other topic). Also, the preview can be smaller. And last not least the dialog could be a bit wider if needed.

Fixed in b2: tab headers fit, no need to scroll.

BTW, I'd bet in many translated versions they will be scrolled.
Fe. translated strings for Polish, if not abbreviated, are:
Opis, Słowa kluczowe, Kategorie, Prawa, Status, Data/czas, Pochodzenie.

Maybe multirow header tabs instead of scrolled tab headers are a solution?

Folder tabs with scrollbars are a real pain, I think. Multirow tabs would be better. Worth while discussing...

Pierre, can multirow tabs make it into 1.82 or Postponed?

I can make multirow, but everyone agree with that?

I support multirow tabs (if necessary for the respective language).
Multirow tabs are far better/user friendly than tabs with scrollbars (my point of view).

In RC1 there are single row tabs. I guess for German there will be scrollbars, still, but German language is not available, yet. I'd propose to make the thumbnail on the right side a bit smaller and the tabs for the IPTC smaller wider.

Moved back to "New/Open".
