If the file size is too big, make a seperate toolbar skins pack!
Not possible for this release, many icons are missing, but i'll add it

And, a real database!
You have Acquire already??

I'd like to see this feature:
View supported files in Zip/Rar files.

It would be very convenient to view images without extracting it.

Here are my requests for next version:
File recognition issues: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=4825
Cleaning up options: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=4665 , http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=4372
Solve shortcuts problems: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=4777
Solve image loading issues: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=4703
Solve resample quality settings & display speed issues: cannot find link now.

Oh damn, not one lends feature from Deluxe
Maybe next release should concentrate on refining existing features. What do you think?

so no need to purchase the deluxe version?

Hi all,

just a quick question.
I tried the deluxe reloaded version in the last days as I am looking for a good tool to manage and organise my picture (ca. 1000). I really liked the deluxe version as it offers categorisation and virtual albums.
I was ready to purchase the software but now I understood that the next free xnview will try to inclkude such features of the deluxe version.
Do you have any idea which features you will include (categorisation? albums?) and by when?
Thanks!

and excellent tool by the way! Congratulations!

I support this 100%!!!
I even think Pierre should take some time to review the code/optimize if needed (and if he wants to), try to reduce size of packages (text files instead of dll for languages, use optimized PNGs for toolbars, etc...).

This would give a better basis/start to build more elaborated functions upon. Moreover, I believe several functions (categories...) should need redesign instead of simple copy/paste from Deluxe -> more time is needed to come up with a good solution directly.

I didn't realize that deluxe even had that export feature.
The export/preview feature is always very useful, but the one in deluxe isn't very useful due to one major flaw: You can't zoom in on the preview. While you're exporting, you're thinking "Wow! I can compress this 24meg pic down to 1K and still have it look that good?!", but when you go to open that pic you just saved you say "WTF is this crap?!?". With such a tiny preview image that can't be zoomed, you simply can't see any degradation in the image until it reaches insane levels.

I would like to see the preview feature added to regular xnview, but with the ability to zoom in on the preview image (the actual size of the preview would stay the same, but when you zoomed in you would have to scroll/drag around the image to see it all).

That's some news! :o Let's see how we can best out of this new situation.

In no case we should rush and put everything we can into XnView. Let's first focus on finishing 1.82 and then see. For example I'm very much against the skins used in XnView DeLuxe since these slew down user interface and made XnView DeLuxe even crash sometimes. (I'm speaking of real skins, not just toolbar buttons or icons).

Also, before introducing albums and categories it might be a good idea to thin about having two products: A Normal version with all included and a "simple viewer" version (yes, the "light version" discussion might be warmed up, again ;-) ).

i agree. skins would only bloat.but maybe in a separate package.

I only meant the toolbar skins, not skins for the entire bloody GUI!!!
Last thing I want is another WinAMP.

Deluxe can display the thumbnail view faster than XnView.
Can you improve that ?
I mean, let XnView display thumbnail view faster.
