MediaInfo
Supplies technical and tag information about a video or audio file.
This is a free software (free of charge and free for access to source code, GPL or LGPL licence)

GSpot has been discontinued as far as I know.

Waouh... I never tried GSpot before, but it is really excellent (v2.52b1):
- Information is great (including GMC, QPel, B-Frames, etc... in Xvid/DivX)
- Codecs Register/Unregister and Priority is a welcome addition
- Codecs inventory and tests are quite useful
- Interface is very efficient
...and all this in a 183KB download!

(I also found DRF Analyser, AviCheck... but No. And I will uninstall RadLight Filter Manager, now... :) )

I'd stay away from the current GUI versions of Mediainfo because it automatically reassociates your file types just by running program.
