maybe they realise that many ppl will not update to the 7.0

nero 6.6->7.0 became the younger brother of the winamp 2->3

edit: goddamn that shitty yahoo tool bar spywaring everything. adobe reader and now nero.. omg.

Please be aware, installing Nero 6.6.1.4 will cause compatibility problems with "DVD Shrink" Both Nero 7 and 6.6.1.4 now use NT-SPTI instead of ASPI for communicating with devices and DVD Shrink only uses APSI layer!

I recommend keeping the latest version of Nero and switching over to using both DVDFab Decrypter and Nero Recode.

Hi-

I Just happened onto this thread. I do use Nero 6.6.0.12, Recode and have Speed Disk 3.7.40 installed.

I probably will sound like a first time Nero user with my comments, but actually have used it for years. I don't bother doing the upgrades very often because everything works fine, and in general, if it's not broken, I try not to fix it. On the other hand, I am curious about a couple things...

I know I have used Nero recode, however I don't burn DVD often, and when I have it did not seem to require any more effort than burning a CD. I use "AnyDVD", btw, and it seems to work very well with Nero. Does Recode just load itself when needed? In other words, is it accessed through Burning ROM, or Startsmart windows?

Someone said something about Speed Disk and it having a burning engine. All the component names have me confused...Speed Disk sounds like a utility to test a drive. Is this something that is going to speed up burning in Burning ROM, or recode? I'm a little rusty on all this because I mostly use Nero for CD burning and for the Image Drive. Ever Since I got and iPod and iTunes I haven't been been using it for CD burning.

So...is upgrading any of the components going do much for me?

Nero Recode can loaded from StartSmart or from the Start -> Programs menu (it can't loaded from Nero Burning Rom)

Nero CD-DVD Speed can be used for testing a drive or testing media for quality or errors.

I would. Nero is perfect example about what happens when the programmers are megalomaniacs.

But I think I will stick to my cut down verion of Nero 5.5 as long as it works. :)
