Hard to select crop tool handles

Post by Troken »

I think someone posted this sometime ago, but couldn't find it now:

it's difficult to select the crop tools handles. To few pixels for the selection, so the result is that you (or maybe only me) often deselect the crop frame and have to make a new one.

Hi, Clo. Yes, I read it (which reminded me of my request). But I can't find that my question is mentioned, nothing of the handles there.

I think the active area to select handles should apply along the whole selection lines instead of a few pixel (ie: active width would be the same, but active length would be 100%, based on the nearest handle).

I strongly agree and would like to see this changed sometime in 2008!

This one issue has kept an acquaintance of mine from switching to XnView.

I have cropped many images since starting the thread, so a new observation:

It is harder to grab the handles at 100% than when zoomed in. Very peculiar! At 100% you can grab the handles just above the pixels of the handle. But when zooming in, the area of "grabbing" is growing. Try to zoom in in steps and see when the cursor changes from arrow to "crop tool". Very large images that are "fit image to window" even gets less pixels for grabbing! Can someone confirm?

IMO this is a :bug:

But this explains much, thats why it is so hard to grab the tool with a wacom board! Often there are minimal movements of the cursor when using wacom pen (pen click).

Suggestion:
1. Please change to the same grab area in all zoom steps.
2. Make the area of grabbing a little larger than the current (at 100% zoom).
