I have 48 bit TIFFs file generated by a panorama stitching programme.
XnView clearly shows, correctly, the number of bits as 48 in the Properties Pane, the bottom status bar and in the"hover tool tip" above thumbnail.
However, when the TIFF is viewed then the bottom status bar shows 24bit and if the image is saved then it becomes 24 bit.
Is this an error and/or how can the saved tiff be retained as 48 bit?
Thanks
PETER

Code: Select all
...Since version 5.53 now supports the 48-bit FITS format (true color, 3 x 16 bits), as well for input and output. The functionality available in the PIC format proprietary PIC are also now available with the FITS. The PIC format retains some an advantage in terms of disk loading and saving speed ...

IRIS worked a treat. I have 48 bit TIFF panoramas which wont load into Nikon Capture NX.
The solution is to load the 48 bit TIFF into Iris and then save it again, as a 48bit TIFF. The image now loads into Capture NX!
Your suggestion resolved a chronic "missing link" in my work flow.
