About the "Compare" Icon

Very good initiative Mezich, in the context, this is clearer.
In fact, the "Compare" icon Doesn't need some extra information.
Or maybe only a "~" similar sign, because the first icon is "Open" = View Mode, and the second icon "Compare" is almost like as a "Thumbnails Mode", and the third one is the "Full screen Mode" so it's a little bit confusing, then the "Compare" icon is not at the right place into the toolbar.
But #3 is fine for me too.

meaning of "~" sign is approximate.
Any secondary symbol will confuse/complicate, not explain.
Sorry for my english.

Yes but XnView has only 3 mains modes : 1-)View mode, 2-)Browser+Preview+Thumbnails mode, 3-)FullScreen mode
So the "Compare" icon is not at the right place (the good place) for me into this ToolBar (because it is before the first toolbar separator).

PS: "~" "approximatively" also means for me "similar" or "almost equal" !

so why we will confuse users with non-definitely "almost equal" symbol?

Don't worry about the "~" sign, for me it's fine even without any symbol, but it would be better to have the "Compare" icon, after the first separator, maybe after the "Find" icon ???
Not with the two others "Mode" Icons before this first toolbar separator.
PS:I agreed above for n°3, without any symbol.

Compare is very close to view mode. I think whould be right to locate it in view-mode-group.
