ExiftoolGUI: No commands for author, title, ...?

Post by Peter2 »

I tried the ExiftoolGUI
http://freeweb.siol.net/hrastni3/foto/e ... oolgui.htm
and could not found commands for author, title, .. (show in PDF with Ctrl-D).

Is it my fault or does it not exist?

ExifToolGUI homepage wrote:Purpose:
It was not my goal to implement all ExifTool options into GUI, but only those which I need most often. ExifToolGUI isn't (and can't be) DAM replacement. Even I use GUI as my main tagging tool, it's purpose is: examine, rescue and change image metadata.
... so you have to use the command line of ExifTool.

Yeah - seem to be the only alternative. It's a pity.

Ehm, I dunno exactly what you are trying to do,
but there is everything possible with the GUI, too.

1. First little thing, you can set the global option like Photographer name, Copyright in Menu: Program - Preferences

2. If your want to edit all the fields for several files, select them and go to Edit '^' (its somewhere there above on the right).
The metatags are separated, so EXIF-tags are not also in IPTC, but it might be technical possible to copy them from one
to another format (like the Tags in music formats), just for the case you are not fully satisfied with one tag-type.

3. Don't forget to set the checkboxes of all you want replaced from -keep as is to -change.

thats all.

Didn't you really watched the screenshots?

Thanks for your hints, but I have problems to implement (or to understand) them:

Preferences:
Yes, I can set them. But how can I apply (write) them to file? All "save"-commands (apply) are under "EDIT XMP / EXIF / IPTC". And to my mind there is no "apply of preferences" and "no commenctions betwenn 'apply EXIF plus PREFERENCES'".

Screenshot:
Yes, I know it. But his is only for EXIF data and not for file-properties.

Ok PDF, I found it.
But theres already a limitation in the exiftool, which not only affected the GUI.
XMP pdf Tags

Creator, Subject and Title are avoided when writing due to name conflicts with XMP-dc tags.

This only affects XMP-tags, but not the "standard"-tags (I could create them on some PDF Files).

Well, you could use TweakPDF
http://www.coolpdf.com/tweakpdf.html
for single jobs

..which is not for, you know, a batch process.
But there are good time-limited Shareware:
