Hello !
• The XnView own databases are named :…thumbs.db still shown in thumb mode
• So, the file you are talking of could be the one that WINDOWS spreads eveywhereXnView.db
cache_thumb.db

Noooo!

Again…
1. There is no RAW file here, I don't deal with cameras (I even don't hold one…)
2. Supposing I open a big folder of images elsewhere than in XnView, I'll get thumbnails if I want very quickly,
since I do not use Win Explorer (YUK !) but Total Commander which has its own database I optimize often…
- There are options making that the thumbnails are created while scrolling the file-list - if not already in the TC database…
- You may also use XnView to get¦create the thumb nails in TC if you prefer…
- So, I sent the damned Explorer thumbs.dbs to limbo once for all !

Again…
• Not at all because :yes, but then every time you open a folder of 100 RAWs you'd have to wait 2min for thumbs!

Sorry but I don´t get it:obelisk wrote:yes, but then every time you open a folder of 100 RAWs you'd have to wait 2min for thumbs!
If you are using XnView as image browser, why do you enable thumbnails view mode in explorer ?
Just disable "remember each folder´s view setting", change the view mode from thumbnails to any other and voila: no more thumbnails in explorer.
Anyway, i don´t think that raw files are supported in Windows by default.
You should have installed some kind of shell extension from your camera manufacturer software bundle.
Try uninstalling it.
Yes raw files are supported in Windows by the MS Raw codecs
why do enable thumbnails view mode in explorer ? Have you ever used PS or any other program or even a web browser? When you browse for a file, it's using explorer to show thumbnails.
Because I want to use explorer as well as XnView . XnView is a viewer. explorer is my shell. When I mail files I use explorer to select them, not XnView .
I use diff. tools to get diff. jobs done, I don't worry about small hidden thumbs.db files (much). Just like I don't worry about optimizing XnView's cache every day for 'stray' thumbs
This is all straying from the point that this is a bug of some sort.
