RC3: Pause key does not start/stop slide show

For me the Pause key doesn't stop or start the slidshow, regardless which file order I have.

I said "Pause" key could cause problems, therefore I suggested also "Space" key for this. See More hotkeys, shortcuts... for more... Anyway I have no problems with that (Start/Stop Slideshow with Pause key)

You means SPACE to start Quick slideshow in view mode??
Pierre.

Yes, in viewer and fullscreen - Space is a standard key for Play/Pause/Continue in many multimedia players.

Maybe you could add an option to choose a key for Quick Slideshow and go to the next image, because some users are using space for that...

Maybe just one option - Use Space key for: Quick Slideshow / go to the next image ...

And what about this? Some users had problems with Pause key (me too but in another program) so it would be easy and flexible way how to solve it...

If Pierre can get the Pause key working for all users I think that would be a good and easy-to-remember key. So we should stick to the Pause key unless Pierre gives up.

But I had this problem with another program, so I am afraid that it is not xnview problem.

Also Space key is larger and easier to reach than Pause.

There are many other keys for "go to next image" - Right key, PgDown, Mouse wheel, RMB.

Pierre knows what he does, so forget about the technical aspect.

Space key has some charme, too. Space for stopping/starting the slide show would be o.k.. And for navigating, the PgDown/Up could be used, then. This would be a keyboard setting which I think is good, too.

And if Space key is used for go to next image, go to previous image is not very easy and comfortable (backspace), so I think Space as (the only or alternative) Slideshow key would be great.

Pierre, what you think about it?

ACDSee uses Page Up/Down to switch between files and the pause key to start/stop slideshows. I'd say it be a good idea to use those controls for XNView, too.
I'm so glad that the options menu is lucid again, now that it has been cleaned up. Just don't create another options chaos as it has been before.

Anyway, for me the pause key already works flawlessly (and always has in ACDSee) so... It's probably an issue with your installation Helmut.

I don't want to remove Pause key! I want just add Space key (for Quick Slideshow) - reasons above.

Well, if it's NOT going to be an item in the options menu and Pierre doesn't have any other plans for the space key then i wouldn't mind... Just don't bloat the menus with unneccessary options again.

Ok, i don't want an option too, so SPACE will be used to start/stop quick slideshow (view mode or browser mode).
