I fully agree. I don't understand why this has been changed. Must have been for technical reasons.Dreamer wrote:Why .usr at all? Old system with PlugInsEx folder was better IMO. Just, this folder should be created automatically, it would be easier for normal users, also it should be in ZIP version(s) - empty.helmut wrote:- Important note -
Please note that after downloading you have to unzip and manually rename the plugin from "xswf.dll" to "xswf.usr". Sorry for the inconvenience, Pierre or Nikolay will fix this, soon.
I know, a bit OT, sorry.
Xswf Plugin - Support for Shockwave Flash (swf) file type
Moderators: XnTriq, helmut, xnview
Download works.
But I don't think the plugin works. It should be placed in the PlugIns directory and should have .usr extension.
But it does not able to handle .swf file correctly, it just give a tiny blank picture on the screen. When mouse over it, it shows the coordinate, that is all.
It suppose to play the file!!!
Download IrfanView and try it and you can compare.

Re: Xswf Plugin - Support for Shockwave Flash (swf) file type
Hi Nikolay!
Thanks for the wonderful plugin! Unfortunately, I failed to make it working...
- I've downloaded xswf_1.2.0.0.zip and unzipped Xswf.dll (renaming the extension) to XnView\Plugins\ folder.
- I've restarted xnview - plugin is not listed in Info->Plugins Information.
- I have checked the dependencies for Xswf.dll by dependency walker. It complained that msjava.dll is missing (deep delayed-load dependency, should not matter, but I've downloaded it from here for any case). Still no result: swf files are displayed as binary in preview pane, no thumbnails are generated.
My configuration:
- WinXP SP3
- XnView 1.92.2
Any ideas will be very helpful.

I am in the same boat, it shows a thumb nail picture and that's all, does not play.

Re: Xswf Plugin - Support for Shockwave Flash (swf) file type
1. Don't rename Xswf.usr to Xswf.dll !!! XnView uses ".usr" extension for user extensions.dma_k wrote:Hi Nikolay!

2. Xswf plugin never used msjava.dll !!! It uses KERNEL32.DLL, USER32.DLL, GDI32.DLL, OLE32.DLL and OLEAUT32.DLL only.
3. Xswf never play flash !!! It shows only one frame (commonly number two) from file, resized to 512x512.
4. If you see no thumbnails then check if you have "SWF" in Options -> Browser -> File List -> "Custom files(*)" field and "Show as thumbnail" checkbox is set.
5. It works perfectly on Windows Vista 64 SP2 + XnView 1.96.2.
Re: Xswf Plugin - Support for Shockwave Flash (swf) file type
I then had it set up correctly then. I was expecting it to play swf file, well, one frame is what it does? Hmmm...

So, if it can take a 2nd frame, then it can take any frame... What about converting Flash to animated GIF?pc001 wrote:I then had it set up correctly then. I was expecting it to play swf file, well, one frame is what it does? Hmmm...
