(First of all, a big shout out to the XnView developers - it's the best!)
Hello,
I've searched around a bit, but need some help. I'm rebuilding my system, and I would really like to do without Photoshop this time. So XnView would be my only graphics editor.
I understand how XnView handles Photoshop plugins, by simply "showing it the 8bf". But I'd like a bit more detail ...
- Can PS plugins be installed expressly for XnView (ie: if Photoshop is absent)?
- Can multiple PS plugins be added?
- Does XnView remember which plugins have been added?
- Will XnView handle the plugin's registration if necessary?
- Exactly how well are PS plugins handled; is there a list of good/bad results?
One example, I bought Nik's Color Efex ages ago, but it's so good, it'll be a deal breaker if it won't work in XnView.
Manny thanks for any light you can shed!

Re: XnView + Photoshop plugins - details?
Keep in mind that XnView isn't (and doesn't try to be) an image editor, although it has some editing capabilities.toonerama wrote:I'm rebuilding my system, and I would really like to do without Photoshop this time. So XnView would be my only graphics editor.
I hope you'll find answers to some of your questions in the following topics.

Make XnViewer be compatible with new adobe plugin format?Forum References:Harald Heim (Plugin Essentials) wrote:In 2002 Adobe restricted access to the Photoshop SDK, which contains the specifications for Photoshop plugins, so it can be expected that these incompatibilities may increase. Developers of other image applications don't have any access to it anymore, so they can't support newer plugin features. However, plugin developers who want to make their plugin compatible with a large variety of applications, should anyway use the old SDK from Photoshop 3.05 or 4.0, which already includes all important specifications.Off-site resources:

You're welcome =)toonerama wrote:Thanks a lot for all the info
Don't hesitate to ask, if something's still unclear.
I'm pretty sure that MP doesn't support Photoshop-compatible plug-ins at this point (v0.39).rra wrote:may be I missed some conversation, but anyone know whether it is possible to use plugins on XnViewMP ?
