However, folders have still 'folder' icon, not a star.

I've really tried, but the XnView 1.9 version of the folders, favorites, and categories/rating panels/UI design just doesn't work smoothly for me. Instead continuing to complain vaguely and verbosely, I have instead designed a UI schema that should work better than the existing implementation, at least for me.

here for pictures of an alternate UI design for the folder tree, favorites, and categories. The approach shown there would work much more naturally for me. Perhaps also for others.
Such drastic changes are certainly too late for this version and consideration for them shouldn't deflect from the current testing effort for v1.9 (which is why I didn't post my proposals directly into
this forum), but I am hoping something like my design will be considered for a future version of XnView.
