I'd agree if there was an option to hide/unhide the menu item 'Exit'. By default, the menu item should be hidden. The option should apply for 'Exit', only. 'Close' doesn't bother me or is even helpful.

I like to use the mouse buttons in fullscreen mode in a similar way as the PgUp and PgDown keys.

And if a context menu is added in fullscreen I think it should be optional.

Exit and Close are probably logical to have if you have a context menu, but I voted for the "RMB context menu is in fullscreen too?" as I would never have come up with this suggestions (doesn't mean it cant be good ).

Another idea for the Close/Exit problem:
When opening the context menu, XnView already knows whether the program will close or exit when chosing the appropriate menu item. So why not have a menu item which gives the user an indication on what will happen, that means change the label of the menu item.
Normally, the menu item in the context menu would be just 'Close'. If 'Close' will exit the application, it might say 'Close & Exit' or 'Close (Exit)'.

A menu item 'Close' makes sense, both in view mode and full screen mode, I can see that, now.

But as written before I have never seen an application with 'Exit' in context menu. Providing 'Exit' in the context menu is against user interface design and will trap many people when selecting it. So if you really want 'Exit' in the context menu it must be only added when activating an option.

Are you talking about an option whether the 'Exit' item is displayed on the menu? Could an option to have a Context menu (with default off) in full screen be enough in your opinion?.

PS. Having clear and strong opinions is good. It can create constructive conversation

If exit or close is added, I would like there to be an option to turn it on or off. If the context menu has exit always for everyone, people will accidentally select it when they do not want to.

I think there should be two separate options:

- Category "View > Fullscreen' (or 'View > Keyboard / Mouse'):
Right mouse button in Full screen:
(o) Show Context menu
( ) Switch to next image

- Category "<?>":
[ ] Show menu item 'Exit' in context menu

I already sent something like this here :

Also 'Enable mouse navigation' option is not very accurate (because navigation with mouse wheel is still possible and many users don't turn it off then) - I suggest change to 'Enable mouse navigation with left and right button', but definetely it should be disabled by default.

From what I can see the poll didn't give a clear result. I suggest, again:

1 - Close is permanently added to Context menu
2 - There is an option. By default this option is 'off' When setting the option, the menu item 'Exit' is added to the context menu.
3 - The above (1 & 2) applies for View mode (Normal and Full screen).

Do you agree with that?

OK (with hotkeys - Close ..... Esc, Exit ..... Alt+F4)

Exit would be useful (at least for me) in browser too, I could exit xnview much faster then...
