I have never messed with ShowAgain before, but yes, that now causes the dialog to display.

Thanks for the XnView tip!

The dialog itself is kind of confusing, though. It says: "Do you want to continue with tagged files?" and the answers are "Yes" and "No"

Maybe it should be a three button dialog:

Ok, but for next release, the 1.93 is ready to be uploaded...

Another idea would be for a modifier key that forces display of the dialog.

Perhaps something like this:

Actually I'd like to see one general dialog and one setting for all actions, not one setting for each action (Compare, Copy, ...). Otherwise this might get too confusing.

The problem with "remember this choice and don't ask again" is: suppose the user forgets? We really need that "hotkey" to force the dialog to display ad hoc.

User (me): "Uh oh! Is it set to selection mode? Is it set to tagged mode? Hmmm... I'm not sure what just happened!"

Also: that option box design can mean an extra click! I prefer the dedicated command buttons.

I agree that one dialog/setting for all activities (Compare, Batch, etc) is best.

I agree. A friendly reset should be added before any more "don't show" features, in my opinion.

What do you mean by setting for all activites?

(I've been on holiday)

If the user has chosen (for instance) for Compare to operate on selected files (not tagged) AND the user also chooses to hide the dialog, then XnView should default to selected (not tagged) files for the other operations (Batch, Copy To, Move To,...) until the user chooses to re-display the dialog and make another choice.

I hope that is clearly stated.

And perhaps this dialog must be showed only for operation like compare/slideshow/convert/..? And not for often used command like rename/delete/copy to/..??

Probably... but this is difficult. I agree for Rename and Delete, but am not sure about Copy To/Move To.

"My" dialog design would be a more efficient UI, though (see above: separate command buttons instead of option group). The reason is that for those of us who want to always choose whether tagged or selected, that extra click to first set the option control will add-up to many unnecessary clicks, averaging (over time) an extra half-click per dialog display.

IMHO An even better plan would be to include the selected/tagged choice in the actual Copy To/Move To, Batch, Slideshow, etc, dialogs themselves. I always prefer one (complicated) dialog to a series of more than one simpler dialogs...

Yes, we want always rename/delete the selected files..

But no 'remember my choice' (1 setting per operation)
