Try Gspot to see the codec used
What version number is your WMP11? Mine is 11.0.5721.5268!

Also that quartz.dll crash I had refers to DirectX in some way I think. I have that Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtimes (August 2009) installed here too.

AVI Splitter, AVI Decompressor and Video Renderer all point to quartz.dll

As I said: The WMP11 crash is solved. But XnView is still hanging/remaining in taskmanager if I set it on the blacklist in ffdshow.
