ATM, I'm not 100% sure: The current star ratings are not just stars, they have labels. So one star might be good in a star only rating. But in XnView's current rating one star is "Poor". Due to the lack of other ratings people might have used the rating "Poor" for outtakes for example.

XnView MP uses
xmp:Label for storing color labels.
MP's star ratings (
0 and
1 through
5) are stored in
xmp:Rating. As far as I know,
-1 is still available to be used as rejection flag.
To ensure
compatibility with Microsoft's applications like Windows (Live) Photo Gallery,
MicrosoftPhoto:Rating is also added.
- Excellent
- <xmp:Rating>5</xmp:Rating>
<MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>99</MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>
Good
- <xmp:Rating>4</xmp:Rating>
<MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>75</MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>
Average
- <xmp:Rating>3</xmp:Rating>
<MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>50</MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>
Fair
- <xmp:Rating>2</xmp:Rating>
<MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>25</MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>
Poor
- <xmp:Rating>1</xmp:Rating>
<MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>1</MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>
Unrated
- <xmp:Rating>0</xmp:Rating>
<MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>0</MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>
The terms assigned to each color can be customized in

Cutomization of the terms for the star ratings is also possible, but has to be done by editing
