XnView Software

Hello,

I've updated to XnView 2.12 and tried to write XMP-Data to a file that was modified by gimp. The image description was written to IPTC, but the XMP-Data was not modified (XMPcheckbox was set in XnView). GThat's what I expected, but still no error message was shown, XMP just hadn't been written. XnView is a very important program for me, so I would be very happy if you'd fix the issue. XnView should show an error message if the writing of metadata is not possible.

Sorry for annoying you , but I'm currently looking for a new workflow for editing metadata. In the past I only used IPTC-Descriptions, but I'm planning to add XMP too and am looking for a reliable solution. That's why I need to know if one of the next versions will show an error message if metadata is not written or not written properly instead of giving no feedback. If not, I'll have to look for another solution (but will still use XnView because of all it's other great features ).

Thank you Pierre, there's really no alternative to your great software, that's why it is so important for me!

Still problems with 2.22:
Images, where Gimp has rewritten the XMP-Data, show no XMP. If I enter an IPTC-Description, it is properly saved as IPTC, but XMP is not written and there is no error message about that.

Strange, it was fixed. the xmp.dll was updated?

I just updated my old XnView-version with the new one. I'll remove it completely and reinstall.

... tried it again with a freshly installed version, but no xmp data was shown/written. I think the reason for the behaviour is definately the rewriting of the xmp-data by gimp, but XnView should show an error message if it's not able to write the XMP or repair/rewrite it.

Something new: If i select one image, writing fails, if i select more than one, XMP ist written.
