A lot of filenames are just meaningless and you can get the info very easily/quickly with the tooltip on the thumbnail.
It would give much more room on the screen to the Thumbnails.

But some users might miss it...
What about another option (for Thumbnails view only):
[x] Show Filename in Thumbnails view
Edit: Also I'd miss name of folders, it's important!
