Well well, I do not know why, but obviously it is hidden quite well as you can see at these conversation here.

I must say that when I came to XnView (Classic) from another well known freeware software, I found the browser confusing at first.

In 'MP at least, there is now a Browser icon on the toolbar in the viewer/edit mode, enabling the browser to be selected directly, but when in the browser as far as I know there is no direct way of switching to the viewer when no image is open in the viewer, and so no image tab is displayed.

So in the browser, switching to the viewer requires opening an image by either double-clicking on an image file in the browser, or using the menu item Tools > Open...

I'm not sure how a means of switching directly to the viewer could be provided, other than by a clearly identifiable icon somewhere, or maybe by text on the toolbar?

I would think for example by just adding the menu point, "Image" whith "Draw" to the broswer menu.

If you have 'Image' menu in browser, a extra step is needed when you quit the dialog, be able to save image...

Sorry, I don not understand at all what that means. And what dialog?

How could one edit added text to an image after re-open that image?

Text that has been added to an image in xnview software can't be edited, it becomes part of the image bitmap and so can't be distinguished from other parts of the image.

Oops, a big drawback. So one would have to delete the entire image and add the text completely new.

Is there another program one can edit such text always with?

Photoshop Elements, not free but relatively inexpensive I think, and no doubt other commercial software and possibly some freeware.

But it is not possible with common bitmap formats like JPEG or PNG, a file format that supports layers is normally necessary.
