As I understand, unchecking this option makes XnView treat some image file types as 'Other' filetypes, however if a thumbnail for such file is already created, it should be used (of course if 'Other' files are supposed to be displayed in chosen view).
Any action for such file is the same as action for Other file, specifically:
1. Preview is not shown or shown with HexaView, depending on options.
2. If XnView is associated (in Windows) with such file, on Shell Open it should display the file if only one instance can be run (using behaviour like for running from explorer).
3. Of couse Open action works like for Other file types.
Just to be precise.

[x] Use all formats avaliable
[ ] Don't use all avaliable formats ??
What about:
[x] Read the most used formats only (similar to Associations option)
[x] Read the most used formats only (faster)
or:
[x] Read the most used formats only (faster start)
Re: b1: Problem: Use all formats avaliable and Write>File
I forgot about the non-read functions!Xyzzy wrote:OK, but what is the effect of this option??? What happens if support for all format is initialized and what happens when it's not?xnview wrote:'Use all formats' is to initialize xnview with the support of all formats...
The option increases the number of files to be read by Xnview.
It also increases the number write file types & file associations available.
Re: b1: Problem: Use all formats avaliable and Write>File
Looks like there is a change only in Associations page. Can you name some Read/Write formats that are present only with Use all formats avaliable checked?marsh wrote: I forgot about the non-read functions!

Options need to be reopened to see lists change:Xyzzy wrote:Looks like there is a change only in Associations page. Can you name some Read/Write formats that are present only with Use all formats avaliable checked?marsh wrote: I forgot about the non-read functions!

Examples:
".hru" is added to Write>File Types
Read type categorized as image: ".pps" ".cat"

Extensions not interesting to me. But documentation is good...
