Thanks for looking into this issue, Pierre!
I nervously verified, and unfortunately categories do not display correctly on the linked version for MAC. Please see attached screenshots.
Thanks for any future fixes or insights on what I did wrong!

I can see categories for JPG pictures (Windows OS) in detail view.
I can see even categories for a pdf file, but i need to refresh display by going to another folder and come back to the previous one.

This does not work for me for PDFs. I clicked around the various category folders, back and forth, and out to "All" or "Uncategorized" and back.
The "Categories" column always remain empty, just as in my earlier screenshot above.

By 'categories' you means categories added with catalog?

Hi Pierre,
yes exactly, I mean the categories that one uses to hierarchically tag the papers. In other words, the "drawers" (in a physical sense) that one organizes one's documents (papers or photos) into.
One awesome thing I noticed with XnView is that it allows efficient organizing in such hierarchical categories (just like "iview media pro" allowed in the day). Thus one can create a hierarchy of tags (the categories in the "categories filter"). Say "project 1"-> "detail1". At the same time, one can also tag the same paper for "project2" -> "detail3". Or one can assign one paper for "course1" and also "course2" -> "independent project Alice".
Now, if one browses through the papers, one would like to quickly see "hey, is this paper relevant for any other existing project?" or "has it already been 'tagged' = categorized"? and "if yes, then which".
Or one chooses in the categories filter a particular tag say "course intro to machine learning" -> "random forests" and sees all the papers. But one can also see if any of the papers tagged that way was also tagged for something else. This system would allow a *super* efficient browsing of one's organization and thus finding existing documents related to topics one is looking for at that moment. And one can find cross-connections one was not aware of before.
It would be awesome. Thanks a lot for your hard work on this awesome tool!

Hi Pierre, I am so thrilled, it works, I can't wait to play around with it, thanks a lot!
Indeed, I had two columns called "categories" and had looked at the wrong one. The "correct" one displays the categories.
Thanks
