Re: Draw - rearrange controls
Just installed 1.4.5 MP. For next versions, I suggest the enabling of a field that can be broadened as needed, just like it was until 1.4.4. The reason is that I work very much with long descriptive texts, sometimes occupying the whole image horizontally, from edge to edge, and to edit them in a narrow space is a very hard task. A photo follows, just to show an example.
Re: Draw - rearrange controls
For me is this new interface also more difficult. Old one was much faster as described here: viewtopic.php?p=187920#p187920
If there is an option to switch between new and old design, then it really helps.

do you have 49" monitor and maximized dialog, as I do not suffer on 32"?rrob wrote: Mon May 22, 2023 8:57 am Mostly Im picking rectangle or arrow and mark something on picture, when it was at bottom, I was able to do it in on one place, quickly adjusting width of line, input text etc. Now is it on different side of my large screen and Im forced to run over it many times per one edit.
I belive this new ui is fine for others so it will not change back but Im using it often so I need better ergonomy.
btw, have you worked in any app that has properties on the right (eg photoshop/gimp/krita), was experience the same?
anyway, some of the following improvements may help:
- detachable panels/toolbars, so user can reposition or make them float (eg like in photoshop, see image below)
- tools shortcuts (eg X - swap colors, D - default colors [bw], T - text, Z - zoom, U - rectangle, ellips, line [sequential selection, as in ps, but can be different])
Re: Draw - rearrange controls
Shortcuts will be amazing improvement.
Efficiency of previous layout was reason why Im using picture browser to edit screenshots. Bcs doing it in gimp, inkscape, etc is much slower.
Floating should be solution
Also big improvement should be so object stays editable until save. Like in vector editor. But I understand, this can be really complicated.
BTW I have 42" lcd
but only fhd so same resolution as usual screen.

Re: Draw - rearrange controls
This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.5.0 beta. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
Pierre.

Re: Draw - rearrange controls
I don't suppose there's an option to still use the previous layout, is there? For me, the new UI is much less convenient than before (with all the controls at the bottom).
As a right-handed individual the far left top corner is the most inaccessible location, particularly when using a pen / tablet (same issue I have with Affinity Photo's docked tools panel location). With this layout, the editing controls and the OK / Cancel buttons are at opposite corners of the screen.
Thanks.
