Yeah, but what does that have to do with this?

It's a bug when 'base path' is used

So now I've upgraded to 1.5.4.
I went to the same folder and wrote "sword" in what is now "quick filter
...and got 18 (or was it 19?) images. How I got that many, I have no idea.
Then I go to sword, in Catalog Filters, and get 9 results. (I must have added a sword category, to one image, since making my original post)
...and then I go back to the folder, and wrote "sword" in what is now "quick filter", again, and get 8/9 (remember exactly) images. (one of which, is the one with sword in only the filename)
...
When I decided to go through the individual images, to check the tags, I also noticed that the videos aren't getting any thumbnails, for some inexplicable reason. I should post that as a bug, in a separate thread.
Also, I noticed that some images have a category with "sword" in it, but which isn't the "sword" category (such as "chainsword", for example), which explains the result of 18.
...and then I go back to the folder, and wrote "sword", yet again, and get SIX images! (one of which, is the one with sword in only the filename)
...
I try to select a different folder, and then that folder again, and try again, a couple of times, but don't get more results. In fact, I get FOUR results!
Before, I always got images with X in the filename, and nothing from the categories.
Now I get the imaged with X in the filename ...and some completely random selection, of images that have a category, that has X in the name. (in whole, or in part)
Edit: the selection seems to stay with the same specific pictures ...until it changes completely, with a different number of images. Though I can't be sure of that.

Why has there been no response, to this bug report?

Ehm... If I could create a copy of a selection of the folder, and a separate XnView.db, with just that folder, I suppose I wouldn't mind, but...

Found this thread because I wanted to suggest a Search field in the Catalog Filter window. The main search field would be enough, if it worked correctly... So I'm wondering, was it fixed ? (using XnView MP 1.6.1)
For example I have 171 images with 'tan skin' category in them (written in XMP/IPTC metadatas). If I use the quick search I get only 3, or 29, or none, because I think it's searching in the local folder you're in. Which is why the catalog filter is useful as it's a global thing but... you have to browse manually in all the tags
