- If you Drag&Drop inbetween two drives, copying is default function. If you do want to force moving, press Shift before dropping
- If you Drag&Drop inbetween the same drive, moving is default function. If you do want to force copying, press Ctrl before dropping.
This is the way both MS Explorer and XnView work.

helmut:

Hi !
• This is the behaviour of Win Explorer, it's twisted and impractical.
- The risk to confuse and mistake is high
• In Total Commander, this has been improved for ages like :
Drag & Drop from any drive¦hard-disc —> Any drive¦hard-disc = Copy.
Drag & Drop + Shift¦Alt from any drive¦hard-disc —> Any drive¦hard-disc = Move.
(Shift¦Alt means Shift OR Alt…)
This is much better IMHO, and in the opinion of myriads TC users…

Thanks
Clo, thanks
Helmut for howto perform a copy and a move...
but the real problem is that the drag and drop move with replace choosen gives an 'uninformative error message' as quoted above
using win 98 se and 'XnView v1.82.4 version Complete (Plugins & NConvert) Setup (Toutes langues) (6.8Mb)' installed

Perhaps a problem only on windows 98? Someone could check?
