 Hello Pierre !
• YES !
ALL setting-files in the directory of XnView !
- Including <bookmark.ini> to get different favourite folders per version…
- There is a large room remaining on the dialogue, no problem at this.

				Hello all,
Here is my opinion:
- Store all setting files according to the method specified under Options>Integration>'Save options' (INI with specified folder / Registry).
- Store Thumbnails cache according to the specified custom folder (default Empty => use the folder specified for INI folder).
- On start, XnView should use XnView directory if there are already INI files there and use User directory otherwise (only Alpha/Beta versions should include an empty INI to allow parallel installation by default).
- When changing 'Save options' (or Cache directory), those related objects should be moved as well.
Why?
-> Can store everything in XnView directory (several versions, portable...)
-> Can store everything in User directory (several users, rights...) including Cache
-> Can handle Cache separately (for Backup, sharing, etc...)

				Hi.
I've tried Alpha2, and it works fine.

But there is one more thing missed.
I choose to save all files (cache, bookmark, toolbar, settings) in XnView's folder,
but the Wallpaper.bmp is still saved in %appdata%\XnView.
Since I choose to save "other files" in XnView's folder, the Wallpaper.bmp should also be saved in XnView's folder.
Right

And one more thing, can I set to have only ONE copy of the Wallpaper.bmp?
I DON'T need to have lots of Wallpaper.bmp in different dates.
Thanks.

				Improved dialogue ?

 Hello All !
• The new choice for the setting-files is great, thank you
Pierre !
- However, the strings in the comboboxes are not very meaningful, and can't be translated currently

- IMHO, “
user”
as is is not explicit, please think to
Aunty Agatha who is much better at cooking than at computing

- I guess that at least “
user” might be translatable…
• Hence, I thought to an improved dialogue, allowing unambiguous choices, without errors due to the dancing lists ( I wasted several hours because this while configuring my skins again…). Also, there is the benefit to get translatables captions for the radio-buttons - at least those of «All other files» - :
———
• Please, notice that there is a separate section to avoid issues with the radio-buttons (I hope…).

 Kind regards,
Claude

				Hi Claude,
I don't understand "Current XnView -----> K:\XnView_tests\" as in your screenshot...
Why is is needed to show the path? What are the "..." used for?
I don't want 2 different settings as in the current Alpha ("save options" and "for other files"): only one is necessary.

				Missing keys…

 Hello !
Why is is needed to show the path?…
- Simply because one can have several versions installed, while there is a single key in the Registry…
- That causes some issues. In example, I installed the most versions by hand from ZIP archives. I'm in the habit to set one instance for each.
- Despite they are
different versions, I can
not open two different XnView at the same time,
I get always the
first opened one.
…What are the "•••" used for?
- Same than in all dialogues, don't you know ?

I don't want 2 different settings as in the current Alpha ("save options" and "for other files"): only one is necessary.
- I don't think so, and I would
wish that I showed above, or close.
- Radio-buttons are much more stable when ticked than fugitive lists, and allow a meaningful translation.
• Anyway, I know you like the lists and I don't… Deafs' dialogue…

You don't
WANT…? This is not your programme, sorry…
IMHO, only Pierre may say "I want" or "I don't", users may only “whish”...

I used "want" to express what I wish for, like in
"She wants a glass of water"... and not to ask someone to do something as in
"I want you to clean your room". I could have used "would like", "wish for", "desire", "prefer", etc... as you suggested. Please keep in mind that English is not my first language.
But I think I get your point: I will have to be very careful about the wording I use...

Thanks.
Can anybody give me a reason why it is needed to have lots of wallpapers created according to date?
