No. Because 'highlighting', in the fashion your referring to, is not the original purpose of the "Spotlight" feature.

But the full screen icon does not show the second (larger) image.
Here is a crude color depth suggestion. The diagonal across the square is a common metaphor.
I like this icon John, where did you find it. I think (if Pierre agrees) an icon much like this would go well for 'Icon Snapshot on/off' proposed feature instead of using the sharing that same 'Multipage' icon I originally proposed. That's if the metaphor is still available?

OK John, But I was thinking it would make a nice icon for icon snapshot on/off - I like the metaphor, if mezich could recreat an icon similar to this.

2. Why it called Spotlight? As I see this is quick way to change some values. I'm not sure that it should have icon.

I think for edit metadata #3 is better (edit tag data stored in xml format ?)

Well, I think it should. A metaphor for it would be very simple as simple as an icon of a '
Torch flashlight' or even a '
lighthouse (with light)'

Tell me please why I should use spotlight tool? To select faces in group photo only? What is the use?
I'm afraid that XnView become monster with tons of features for "one person". By my opinion, not every tools in XnView should be promoted by icon. So I would like to see comments from you and from also other users.
