Has this feature been finished, implemented or abandoned? I hope not, but I can't seem to find any link to try out, or anything built into v1.92? Am I being stupid, blind or just both?

Thanks, but I've tried it with avi, mpg, wmv and mov and contact sheet just gives me 1 frame of the video. I suppose I'm doing something wrong but don't know what. Are there any other settings/options I should be looking at?

Well since startiung this topic I have discovered the only application that can do this properly, and that is
KM Player
"make storyboard" feature, look - KMPlayer has to be the absolute best media player I have ever used very customizable lots of advanced options and for me lots of capture options - the image slideshow feature on here is fantastic
Maybe the french (Pierre of Xnview) can take a leaf out of the Korean's book (Korean Player = KMPlayer)

BTW - KMPlayer can be set to be portable by the use of an .ini file too for those like me that enjoy Xnview in a 'portable' fashion
PS. can anyone without DirectX installed confirm that KMPlayer's 'make stireyboard' is not working

You can also do that with MPC-HC (media player classic-home cinema) and bind
it to whatever key you want so all you need to do is hit one key and it
grabs a series of frames from any supported video file and saves
it automatically to an output directory of your choosing.
You can also tell it how many rows/columns of frames you want,
3x3, 4x4, 4x6, whatever.
It also supports rendering video as 3d surfaces in VMR9 mode
with precise bicubic rescaling of resized/fullscreen video, and
pixel shader 2.0 effects like sharpen,etc that be toggled on and
off on the fly while a video is playing. Is possibly the most
awesome player I've ever seen, you can tell it to use its own
ffdshow internal decoders or disable certain ones via a checkbox
menu to get it to use the system installed external codecs.
Obviously though, its not an image viewer, its a media player
primarily so doesnt compete with Xnview on that level, it does
have video slideshow support like Xnview, with arguably better
fullscreen support since it has the high quality bicubic resizing
but its slideshow interface sucks.. theres no real interface for
building a slideshow, you can only really add a whole directory
at a time or highlight a bunch of files and then save the slideshow
list, it doesnt have the whole add/remove browser interface
than Xnview has, unfortunately.
If Xnview could just get it so that the fullscreen slideshow
with "fixed size" option actually resized the video at good
quality to the fixed window size it would be great (instead
of playing it in the upper-left corner of the window)
As thats a major issue going forward for progressively larger
LCD displays and alot of us still have old video content we
want to use.. but a 352x240 video looks ridiculously small
on a 1600x900 20" LCD, and stretching it fullscreen makes
it too undefined and blocky.. What we need is the ability
to tell the program to stretch a slideshows content to a
specified size like 640x480 or 800x600,etc, large enough
to see on a big LCD, but not so stretched thats its unwatchable.
