RC4 is here...
I don't like "Edit mode" term under "Switch mode", because it could be confusing - again...

In Help > Misc. > Key combinations, there is "Browser Mode" and "Image View Mode".
In Options, there is "Browser" and "View".
Therefore I think "EDIT mode" will be confusing (it is already - see comments above).
If there will be two names for the same mode, it will be always confusing.

And "View edit window"

Like i said in my first posts, to me there is no "edit mode". It's just the "viewer" with happens to have editing capabilities.
And maybe it'd be a good idea to combine the 2 different fullscreen modes into one, if there are no performance reasons not to do it. Cause having to different fullscreen displays is the most confusing thing to me.
Then it would be very lucid:
1. Browser
2. Viewer
2.1 Fullscreen

It's the same, you have a fullscreen with editing capabilities, and a fullscreen without.

How can it be the same if it's differenet?

Two words - I don't think it would be less confusing...
And you would need to rename "View" everywhere (in help, options, context menu...), because:
We must use the
same names for the
same features!
Or do you want to use two words/terms for the same feature/option??

Please wait for RC5 - there will be an option to use only those modes (it is already in RC4, but there is a bug with it) - not exactly what you want, but I think enough.

i agree with dreamer: either call it "View mode", or you'll have to switch every occurance to "View/Edit mode" (which I think is much more clear than "view edit mode").

Folks, as long as we haven't clarified the way the fullscreens will work, we shouldn't discuss the naming of these or renaming other modes. So please keep the existing naming of XnView 1.74 unless we are clear on this matter.

OK, we have "Viewer" and "Fullscreen" for both FS modes. I think it's OK.

In Version 1.74 there was "Image view" and "Fullscreen", this can be seen in some options (e.g. category 'Toobar > Buttons displayed') .
Not that I would insist on that wording, but worth while thinking about...
..and once a name has been set perhaps a good point to make the options consistent.
