with XnviewMP the only format that don't work, for me, is .flv
With Xnview the 80% of the format don't work

however it is strange that the two programs are so similar and made by the same author, one recognizes almost all popular video formats and almost no one else. But I'm not a programmer :)

A little late to the party here, but I'm also having the issue with no .MOV thumbnails displayed in 2.34. They are displayed properly for .AVI's. Running Windows 10, and I have Quicktime 7.73 installed.

Any new developments? THanks,

Ian

I'm not really sure to be honest. I used to use an old version of ACDSee to view pics with, but Windows 10 Threshold 2 broke it completely, so I have begun using XNview exclusively now.

Over the Christmas break, I bought new hardware and have a fresh install of Windows 10 on it. I have not installed Quicktime yet, nor do I want to, as Windows Media Player works fine.

I notice that I get no thumbnails for .MOV (My Nikon), or MP4 (My Samsung phone) now, although .AVI's are displaying with a single thumbnail image.

What would I need to install\do to get .MOV and .MP4 working?

Thanks very much for your help Pierre!

Ian

I just installed it tonite and rebooted, but I'm afraid it didn't do anything. Any other suggestions?

Thanks Pierre!

Edit: I added the VideoFormat=3 statement to the Browse section of the .ini file and now I see .MOV thumbs. Yay! Still nothing for MP4's though...

Edit #2: Downloaded FFMpeg.zip and extracted to Addons folder, now I have MP4 thumbs as well, so I'm all set. Thanks Pierre!

Wow, I finally got Thumbs working in Win7 Pro.

This whole time i had been putting ffmpeg to "Addon/ffmpeg/ffmpeg.exe". I swear i seen that posted above somewhere.
I just read the post above mine and tried it at just "Addon/ffmpeg.exe". Now I finally have thumbs for .mp4 files. Great, it been months like this.
I had already tried the.ini trick.

Hi,

I also have problems with video thumbnails, I use XnView MP Windows Version 0.86 64bits (Apr 25 2017).
I'm on windows 10 64 bits.
I put ffmpeg.exe (64bits version N-85750-ga75ef15) in Addons folder.
I installed the KLite Basic Codec pack.
I added VideoFormat=3 in the Browser section of XNView.ini
I still have no thumbnail for .mp4, .avi and .mov files.
Strangely, files are playing "well" (a bit slow in fact) in the preview.

I'm certainly doing something wrong. Help would be apreciated.
