simply adding the category name to the photo name if ...
Tools > Batch rename > Name template
Use the right arrow button to select fields (exif>image>user comment or any other) to be added in the rename function etc ...

Yes, this works in this case. Unfortunately it takes long time aswell because of the slow datarate, but I can already recognize progress. Also, I need to be careful as photos with two categories, for example Category A and Category B, are easily renamed twice as they appear in both categories. I used the search function to filter the intersections out and found only Photos that are Category A and are not Category B, but after using the Browse... button I could not proceed to rename these photos because the program doesn't respond.
