it's slow because of the MDI menu update, any way to show it instantly? I think it would make look a professional application look even more professional.

I can't reproduce your problem, but this might have various reasons (settings, performance,...).

Some questions to shed more light into this:
- Could you please describe your settings and your steps when opening the image in some more detail?
- How long does it roughly take to open the fullscreen on your system?
- What computer hardware do you use?

when I double click in the browser on a thumbnail I configured the application to display the image as fullscreen but before you see how the main menu gets updated because a different document type is loaded. Are you the programmer othe application? You know about the MFC MDI architecture?

I've just tried this, but the fullscreen appears instantly. I work on a P4 with 2.4 GHz and a ATI Radeon 9200, so probably no wonder.

Just to make sure: Could you please temporarily rename your xnview.ini, then start XnView and set the setting "View in fullscreen" (in Options, category "Browser") and then try again?

Pierre is the programmer of XnView.

done it with the same result, I've got a Athlon 2200+ with a possibly slow graphics system. It's only a glimpse but it's clearly noticeable the menu get updated

Why you ask this question about MFC MDI? XnView is not based on MFC!

when I switch from the browser mdi child to a image mdi child I get another different main menu. When I double click on a thumbnail in the browser I see the mdi child in fullscreen but before I see clearly how the main menu gets updated instead of seeing the fullscreen image instantly. Another cosmetic thing that makes the application look a little bit slow is when you single click a thumbnail you see how the mouse curser changes.

Very strange....

Another cosmetic thing that makes the application look a little bit slow is when you single click a thumbnail you see how the mouse curser changes.

The cursor is changed in a wait cursor...

I thought it's a MFC app, wxWindows?

Did you try it in a folder with 30+ pictures. Look at the pic. It's in a folder with over 700 in it.
