Klipfolio, the Personal Dashboard (freeware)

I strongly recommend using Klipfolio for monitoring information: XML/RSS/Atom feeds, Weather, Mails, Stock, News, Forums, Blogs...

Mine is always running in the background: I automatically receive alerts for important stuff and check secondary data only when I want. Its 3 levels interface is really great (minimized for quick overview, expanded for listing items, tooltip for details). I use it to monitor XnView forum... ...and MANY other things! It's also very light (1MB download), quite flexible and well supported.
It looks like this:

Minimized

One klip expanded +tooltip

If some people are interested, I can post the klips+feeds I have set up, mainly about Photo equipment Reviews and News, French News, Computer French News, International News, etc...

Meanwhile, you can watch a nice video about some upcoming features of Klipfolio 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKy84qVyeNk

Olivier, would you recommend updating to version 5 of KlipFolio?

Hmmm... there are interesting new features and I like this new version. It seems quite stable too.
But there are RAM issues and it takes much more memory than previous version. I did the upgrade but hope the developpers will correct this issue.

Nonetheless, I think the upgrade is worth but don't expect a finalized product.

Thanks for the info! The issue of memory consumption was my main area of concern.
