Preview-tab kills F11…

:) Hello !

• Open a folder in the Browser - must be configured to get the 3 tabs
Preview - Histogram - Properties - directly when opened.

• Click any thumb nail image to get the preview,

• Click the “Preview” tab :

1. the thumb nail is selected, but oddly. Its own BG-colour disappears, it's replaced by the BG-colour of the thumb nails board.

2. Strike F11 : Nothing happens.

3. One can get the full screen via the local menu, though.

4. F11 when in full screen via the menu, one comes back to the previous situation, odd selection, and F11 dead.

:) Hi B. !

• Testing a bit further, I can say that it's the same with all tabs, as soon as they have the focus.

- F11 doesn't override the tab-focus, it should, IMHO.

:) Hello !

• Just a small image showing that the colour of selection is absent, and what is displayed instead :

    Image

- The normal colour of selection is —> ••• (FFCB94)
- The file-name is dark-greyed too, that is abnormal…

Confirmed.
1. Select thumb.
2. Select Preview tab.
3. *Now thumb background colour vanishes. It happens as soon as Preview tab is highlighted.

Really i don't understand, it the normal behaviour. ListView has no more the focus. You have the same in 1.82.4

HOW?

:) Hello !

 How ? There are no tabs in 1.82.4 !

• And please, don't forget the main topic which is that F11 is dead when a tab is highlighted !

Make the focus to tree panel for example

Yes :-)

Bad painting

:) Again !
Make the focus to tree panel for example
• Well, right. But anyway, there is a small painting defect, since the BG of the file-name takes the inside button-border colour of Windows, here in the case a crappy dark grey, then the name becomes quasi-unreadable.
- You could use the default Win BG of the windows, like for the comboboxes, lists etc…

• Moreover, there is a point that tickles me for a long while :
- In fact, clicking on a thumb nail doesn't select it really, it's simply marked.
- To compare, in TC you mark an item (in a list or else) by a click but then, you may select it. So, when you go i.e. to the other panel, the item remains selected, while the focus is elsewhere.
- In TC, you change from marked to selected pressing the space bar, but other means could be found…
- The still selected item is shown by a chosen colour for the characters, let's say “red”. The default selection colour (configurable, but generally I use the same than in Win, and an inverted cursor) is not displayed, but the item is easy to spot. Something to think to…

I use the default highlight color of win (COLOR_HIGHLIGHT)

- Same here, I've the BG as dark-purple, and the text as dark-green, hard to read…

Right, the fine distinction between «Marked» and «Selected» can't be done in XnView, it's a pity, because this is helpful…

NBot now

• Obviously, the default selection colour (here •••) is NOT applied on the item when the thumb nail loses the focus !
- And please, explain me why the light-green BG label -coming from XnV for the file-type-
is replaced with the inside button-border colour of Win ?
- This is the same for all users, I guess, since Paul “Ouistiti” confirms above…
EDIT : Here, I've the default background for the windows (lists etc.) as : ••• - FFFFD6.
Better as BG than the dark-grey to read the name…

It's the common behaviour, to show that this control has no more the focus...
In windows explorer, select some files, and put the focus on folder tree. Your selected items change, which color is used? Could you post a screenshot of before and after changing the focus?
