Save dialog: "Apply all" for single file

The new "Save" dialog is a bit confusing. Even when changing one single file, the checkbox "Apply to all images" is shown. This checkbox should be hidden or greyed out if only one file is affected by the action.

To reproduce:
1.) Open an image file in XnView
2.) Change the image (e.g. make a selection and choose "Edit > Crop".
3.) Close the image
--> The message box with the above checkbox will appear.

Yes, this should only apply to a "Close All" function not standard "Close"

For me, it's not confusing as I'm use to reading lots of stuff :)

I don't quite understand your question.

From my point of view, all situations were only one file is affected, the normal save dialog should appear. In all other (few) cases (e.g. quitting XnView with multiple *changed* images open) the new save dialog with "Apply all" should appear.

Hum not sure, you close a view, click on no and 'apply to all', and close a second view.... I think that this dialog is not used always for 'close all'

Again, I don't understand what you mean. Could you please read the above posts carefully and then comment?

I've read it :-)
An example:
You open 2 pictures, make a rotation on the 2 views, now the user close the first view. He has this dialog with 'apply all'. So he can click on No and check 'all'. So now when he close the second view, there is no more dialog, as expected...

Thank you Pierre for explaining in more detail. Now I understand what you mean.

- Apply all
"Apply to all" is an answer to all message boxes that appear during one action (e.g., Exiting the application, Batch conversion, ...).

- Remember decision for next time
What you have is several indivual actions (Save, and later Save again). The correct wording for such an option would be something like "[ ] Remember my decision", "[ ] Never ask again", or "Don't show this message, again".

You see that these are completely different pairs of shoes. Currently I'm not sure which use case you are targeting at. I had the impression with your dialog in 1.90 alpha 2 with buttons [No all] and [Yes, all] you had use case "Apply all", but I'm not so sure anymore.
