Compatability with the new Yahoo browser?

I have had a problem since BT Yahoo updated their browser in that XnView freezes after opening a picture. The program opens and displays the file tree and the contents of a selected album as normal, but double clicking any thumbnail opens that picture, then the program freezes. To exit the program I have to use "Task Manager".

I have XP Home as the operating system. I am not certain which version of XnView is installed as I have tried various versions to get around the problem and the information available seems to be inconsistent. Looking at the "Version" tab in "Properties" of the file xnview.exe in C:\Program Files\XnView it says "File version 1.82.0.0" in the header but in "Other version information/File Version" it says "1.82.4"

This problem exists both when the Yahoo browser is open and when it is not running. I have made a temporary fix by returning to an XP restore point before the Yahoo update - but this means I get a pop-up telling me to update every time I use Yahoo to access my ISP account.

Is there a fix available to make the two programs compatible?

Does reassociating images using Xnview's options help?
Options... Associations>'Most Used'

Thanks for the fast response. Unfortunately I won't be able to try this until later this evening.

To get accurate version info, open xnview and click help->about.

Marsh is most likely on the right track. The update probably mucked with your file associations. If that isn't the case, then the update did something very undesirable to your system and you should complain to yahoo.
(Although what I would do is uninstall the yahoo browser completely and use something else. I once made the mistake of installing the yahoo browser when prodigy changed to sbc, it was very opbnoxous and domineering. Even plain IE is better (especially since the yahoo browser is just a yahoo wrapper over IE).)

Thanks for the advice. I checked the associations in XnView before re-installing the Yahoo update. These were all unticked except .wbz (I use the program to read files downloaded from the Webshots site).

After the re-installation of the Yahoo update there were many other extensions in XnView checked (most of which I had never heard!), but .wbz was still there. The program seems to work OK without locking up now, but I have removed all extensions except .wbz for the moment.

I have checked the version number - it is 1.82.4 en. I hope to explore the facilites a lot more in the future.

Again, thanks for the help.
