How about adding file creation / modification dates info to status bar?

It's already in Preview pane > Properties, it's enough IMO, there is not enough space for this in the status bar.

perhaps make it an option for users that have enough space in the status bar

OK, but why it should be there twice?

Anyway, it's too late for the new options IMO, postponed.

Don't forget that it's also available in Thumbnails' tooltip and Thumbnails' labels too if you want.

Editable tooltips (Options>Browser>Show tooltips) would not take up space, would they?

when you have a lot of closely packed thumbnails on the screen it gets annoying to have the tooltip showing up and blocking the view of other thumbnails whenever you rest the mouse. since the status bar shows so much file info anyways, it would be nice to have file date info in there, too. it is a common info afterfall.

So you may like this suggestion for Customizable info in status bar. I still support it for a future version, for the very reasons already mentionned: no space used, not blocking and instantaneous.

or it can just be added as a default along with the rest of the file info on the status bar--which would probably be implemented quicker.
