Illustrator AI support with Version 1.82.4

				Hello forum,
thanks for that awesome software, but there still seem to be some problems with vector format:
I've tried every Illustrator legancy (version 3 to 10 (CS)) as a AI format and none of them could be displayed by xnview (it just displays the binary numbers).
I've installed Gostscript (current version 854w32) running on WinXP Pro SP2. Doesn't help either. I've read every post on AI files in this forum. Nothing did help.
I would like to try an older build of xnview and see if it works there, but i can't find a download anywhere.
Is this a known "bug"? Or am I missing some very important fact?
If anyone is able to view AI files, would be great if you post your version numbers and maybe a link to your file that i can check weather it works for me or not. Let's get this working, this gonna be a great important feature for XnView!
regards,
daniel

 Hello !
• Maybe did you that already, but it's indispensable to set in the Options :
1.
General >> StartUp >> Tick the box
Use all available formats
2.
Browser >> Item displayed >> Tick the row of boxes for
AI, PS, PDF
• Unfortunately, I've not any *.AI file here to test, please could you give a link to get a sample of the files you can't display ? TIA !

 Kind regards,
Claude

				http://download.danielnitz.com/download ... test_cs.ai
http://download.danielnitz.com/download ... test_v8.ai
http://download.danielnitz.com/download ... test_v3.ai
Here are the files for download. Created on Mac OS with Illustrator CS. Would be great if everybody could refer to those files if working or not and on which OS and xnview versions.
@col: I've done that allready

As i said, I've literally read EVERY post on AI

Hello ! Welcome aboard as a Member !
• I've tested your samples :
¤
With 1.82.4
a) test_cs.ai >>> Works OK
b) test_v3.ai >>> Nope, unknown format…
c) test_v8.ai >>> Nope, same message.
-------------------------------------------------
¤
With 1.90 RC1
a) >>> Nope, unknown…
b) >>> Nope, same message.
c) >>> Works OK !

• 1.80.3 behaves like 1.90 RC1 with the same samples.
•
Pierre please, could you lighten that mystery ?

				ok, it's me again.
I've tested on a different machine. I've installed the "all-in-a-box" version after I had installed the ghostscript. Now I get the same result as Clo.
Still strange why it doesn't work with Illu v3 and 8.
It also doesn't work with CorelDraw files. Anything known about that? Is this feature more to come or just not worth the effort? (because it's corel

 )

 Hello !
• I've a set of samples for *.CDR v.5 … v.10 All works in 1.82.4 and in 1.90 RC1.
• All old *.CDR from Corel 3 are displayed OK in all XnView versions (for a while !)

My file is a V12 corel. Maybe thats the reason? V10 Doesn't work either.
Here are my files:
http://download.danielnitz.com/download ... st_v12.cdr
http://download.danielnitz.com/download ... st_v10.cdr
Note:
A icon preview is normally generated by corel when you save the file.

				That sounds great, pierre!
There shouldn't be too many v3 files around

If you like those files for everyone as test files (that ppl can verify if their installation is properly working) you can use them without any restrictions.
