In order to reproduce this, you'll need a truecolor 370×210px bitmap.
XnView: - Test #1: View » Thumbnail Size » 192x144
Test #2: Tools » Options » Browser » Thumbnails » Appearance » Width: 160 / Height: 120
XnView Shell Extension: This occurs with all possible settings.

Confirmed. The problem goes away for me if shell extension HQ setting is 'off'. It looks like BMP is smaller than same sized PNG in my thumbnail display of RC1 browser.
The same problem occurs with ICO files...

Thanks for verifying, marsh.
You're right, the algorithm for rendering HQ thumbs seems to be the culprit.

Options »
Browser »

OK, it's fixed in XnView 1.90 RC2, ...

Hello !
• I can confirm about the thumb nail in the local menu from the ShellExtension :
- This is a “monstrous” 256² test-icon I drew for some tests (but
not for Vista!)

Yes, is fixed for the final release...
So moving to "1.90 - Fixed in RC3 (Final Release?)", OK?

For me this is fixed in RC3 and its shell extension.
