Crop does NOT work on some (non-gray ?)

Can't auto-crop this ^^^ image
Have had problems with auto-crop for a long time with various versions,
but now providing a test image. Seems that cropping colours other
than white/gray/black does not work.
Cropping this image(RGB=(100,100,200)) with exactly this colour has exactly NO effect ...
irrespective what "Tolerance" (up to 255) I use
