I have a problem with the rotate exif function.
The thumbnail pictures in the browser windows of XnView 1.90.01 doesn't seem to show correct orientation.
I have several pictures which wrong in the thumbnail part but correct in the preview window and when I opened the picture.
I have turned of "Rotate based on exif".

Try without 'Use embedded thumbnail', your embedded thumbnails have perhaps a bad orientation

it worked...

Embedded thumbnail is a thumbnail in the file, and sometimes not good...

Hello,

can you recommend any tool to rotate the embedded thumbnail? Or does the current XnView version support this feature itself?

Thank you!

As far as I have understood the thumbnail has nothing to do with the picture's exif orientation. But what's the difference between
a) the option "Reset EXIF orientation value" in the JPEG Lossless Transformation window and
b) the setting "Change EXIF orientation ONLY when possible" in Tools -> Options -> Browser -> Misc. ?

And, by the way, what is "For lossless operations make a backup" in Tools -> Options -> General -> File Ops?
Is this the point for creating .xnbak files?
