In Image View, for cropping, the image of scissors is used, which in windows nomenclature is the notation for cutting (Cut - Copy - Paste).
Instead, another image may be used, may be a square with extended sides at one pair of opposite corners.

Hello !
• I agree, but I suppose you are talking of the
default skin?
• You may use other skins, having more appropriate motives for that function.
• In example, I use my own ones, where there's mainly a red dashed frame to show the “Crop” action…
- Some are updated for the 1.90 versions, available
HERE.
- There are also matching extra-icons you can use to add other buttons now.
• If you wish to use the default skin absolutely, you can draw an icon *.ico for the “Crop”,
and use it instead of the one coming from the skin-bitmap… 24² pixels, 8-BPP or 32 BPP.
- Hmm… Maybe did I draw
ONE ?

Kind regards,
Claude

Hello !
…I was wishing that the default skin option may have a meaningful Icon.
• I'm not sure that this should be changed soon, maybe not changed at all…
• So, you may change the default image by saving the icon I drew (no © !) or drawing your own…
- Go to
Options >> Interface >> Tool-bar >> View >> Click the original image in the current bar preview
>>
Choose another icon from the “•••” button at the right end of the
Icon file field which becomes available
(the field is empty when the image comes from the default or from a skin bitmap, it's normal)…

The "scissors" symbol in the default skin for cropping is wrong and should be replaced by another symbol. For cropping, very often a ruler is used (see Mezich skin).
